Rockford Housing Authority and Comcast expands low-cost internet

ROCKFORD, IL — Comcast and the Rockford Housing Authority recently announced the expansion of Comcast’s Internet Essentials program to more than 5,300 households assisted by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development in Rockford and Winnebago County.

The program provides low-cost, high-speed internet service for $9.95 plus tax per month, the option to purchase an internet-ready computer for less than $150 and various options to access free digital literacy training.

This is the ninth time in five years Comcast has expanded eligibility for the program.
