Home Forward is planning to open waiting lists on five low-income housing projects in North, Northwest, Northeast and Southwest Portland.

The waiting lists will begin opening next week for people who need subsidized housing, and residents are required to pay 27.5 percent of their total income for renting a unit.
The first waiting list to open will be forNew Columbia, 2605 N. Trenton St. Lists for units of several sizes will be open from Tuesday, June 26 through Thursday, June 28. Public housing waiting lists will be available for one, two, four and five-bedroom units, and Section 8 housing waiting lists will include four, five and six-bedroom apartments.
To qualify for these homes, residents must have a household income of less than 60 percent of the area median income.  Applications will be available beginning at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, June 26 at the leasing office, 4605 N. Trenton St. They can also be downloaded from the New Columbia website.
In Northeast Portland, Home Forward will be opening a waiting list at Hollywood East, 4400 N.E. Broadway, a studio apartment building. In Northwest Portland, there will be a list for theNorthwest Tower, 335 N.W. 19th Ave., and Williams Plaza, 2041 N.W. Everett St. In Southwest Portland, a waiting list for one-bedroom apartments in the Ruth Haefner Plaza, 6005 S.W. Beaverton-Hillsdale Hwy., will be available.
Waiting lists for all three buildings will be open from Wednesday, July 11 through Friday, July 13. To qualify for residency, one person in the household must be 55 or older, or have a disability that can be verified by a doctor. Also, the household income must be less than 80 percent of the area median income.
Applications will be available at 9 a.m. on July 11 at any of Home Forward’s public housing community leasing offices, and they can be downloaded at the Home Forward website. The applications can be submitted in person at the four buildings.
